Blind Guardian

Uma banda que teve uma boa parte de suas músicas inspiradas nas obras do ilustríssimo J. R. R. Tolkien , tem todo o direito de abrir esse post.

Eles possuem uma música chamada de “The Bard’s Song The Hobbit” que é um verdadeiro resumo do livro o Hobbit, e um disco inteiro (Nightfall In Middle-Earth) dedicado à obra “O Silmarillion” – que conta à criação da Terra Média em seus primeiros séculos de existência. sem falar de outras referências bem legais.

Vintersorg é uma banda de sueca folk/viking metal com uma temática bem variada, eles costumam abordar sobre paganismo, natureza, astronomia, ciência, filosofia e algumas coisas que beiram a física quântica.

Abney Park

Não é exatamente uma banda no estilo metal, tem leves influência do metal industrial somente, mas é uma banda bastante nerd só por adotarem o visual e a temática do Steam Punk.

Star One

Lucassen Arjen sempre foi um mega fan de ficção cientifica em geral,  e isso é bem fácil de se observar nos varios trabalhos que ele fez para o Ayreon, seu principal projeto. Como uma forma de homenagear grandes clássicos do cinema cuja a abordagem era a ficção, ele criou um projeto paralelo chamado Star One, cada faixa do album entitulado Space Metal, faz referência direta a um filme com essa temática.

Haggard

Haggard não é uma banda é um bando , tem mais integrantes do que um time de futebol, inclui no pacote vocais sopranos, tenor, violinista, flautista, entre outros músicos que em conjuntos fazem uma sonoridade de extrema qualidade, o estilo é uma mistura de música folk, erudita e death metal.

A temática tratada pela banda varia de album para album, eles possuem dois albuns dedicados a homenagear grandes personalidades do passado, uma para Nostradamus, que relata sobre suas experiências durante a época da peste negra, na Europa Medieval, e um dedicado a Galileu Galilei, conta a história da vida do cientista, e justamente por causa dessa ultima homensagem que eles estão nessa lista.

Chegamos ao nível mais macabro de nossa lista, pegue alguns médicos patologistas que amam death metal e que também amam sua profissão, bata tudo no processador e teremos essa banda. Eles possuem forte influência do carcass, e abordam temas referentes a medicina na música, mais especificamente a patologias, só tiveram um álbum lançado, Este  também vem em embalagem de luxo que inclui um deslizamento sobre a cobertura que se assemelha a um saco de contaminação, o cheiro é de cadáveres podres ou que a banda diz, a “essência da putrefação”. para os nerds fans de seriados médicos e Death metal essa banda é um prato cheio
